Drive with a hydraulic cylinder
The double-acting cylinder retracts and extends the tail lift. The stroke of this cylinder corresponds to the slide-under length. The downside of this is that the cylinder is mounted far back under the cargo body, often in a hard-to-reach area above the axles.
Double hydraulic cylinder
This problem can be solved with a double hydraulic cylinder arrangement: two cylinders side-by-side, connected in parallel, which together provide the necessary stroke length. The disadvantage of a double hydraulic cylinder is that the push and pull force is not in line with the movement of the tail lift. This can cause the tail lift to twist while it slides, resulting in shaking and jerking. Contamination of the hydraulic piston rods with rust and sand worsen the shaking and jerking.
