Parallellogram lift construction
There are two types of lift constructions
- Rear-closing tail lift
- Slider lift (slide-under tail lift)
Rear-closing tail lift
A rear-closing type tail lift closes against the back of the truck and largely covers the cargo area. The platform is raised and lowered by means of a hydraulically driven lift cylinder. The tilt cylinder opens and closes the platform and in some cases also adjusts the angle relative to the ground.
Slider lift (slide-under tail lift)
The slide-under tail lift was developed to provide added flexibility when loading and unloading the truck. This type of tail lift hangs under the cargo body and can be slid out when desired. The fact that it can remain under the body makes it possible to load and unload at a loading dock or with a forklift as well as with the tail lift. The slider lift (slide-under tail lift) is mounted on rails, usually sliding tubes. The use of slide blocks, rollers or a combination of the two allows the slider lift (slide-under tail lift) to be slid completely underneath. Because the available slide-under length is limited, the platform is folded in half. These parts are called the folding and fixed sections. The folding and unfolding are done manually or hydraulically, with a folding cylinder for instance.
